Silversea

All-suite ships with a butler for every guest, Polar Class 6 for Svalbard and the fjords of East Greenland, and the classic Silversea for the west coast. The most inclusive fare in the Arctic, and the one we recommend to guests who want the expedition without giving up the ship.

Silversea

Butlers, five restaurants and a Polar Class 6 hull

Silversea is the all-inclusive end of the expedition fleet. Every accommodation is a suite with a butler, every meal and every glass is in the fare, and gratuities and port taxes are paid before you board. In the Arctic the line sails two ships: Silver Endeavour, the Polar Class 6 ship built in 2021 and bought by Silversea in 2022, for Svalbard, Jan Mayen and East Greenland, and Silver Wind, the 1995 Silversea classic rebuilt for the ice in 2021, for Greenland’s west coast between Nuuk and Reykjavik.

The season runs from early June to mid September: Svalbard in June and July from Longyearbyen, the crossings to Iceland by way of Jan Mayen in July, the west coast of Greenland from June to September aboard Silver Wind, and Scoresby Sund and the fjords of the national park from Reykjavik in late August, when the aurora returns. We have planned Silversea at both poles, and we know which suites to ask for.

Questions

Silversea in the Arctic, your questions answered

Seasons, ships, what is included and how to get there from Australia. If your question is not here, we are a call away.

Everything at the table and in the suite: all dining, champagne, wines and spirits, the in-suite bar, the butler, gratuities and port taxes, the expedition programme with Zodiac outings and lectures, and an expedition parka. Flights and hotels are not included unless you take Silversea’s optional flight package; we usually arrange them ourselves with the nights either side.

Silver Endeavour for Svalbard, Jan Mayen and East Greenland, where her Polar Class 6 hull matters. Silver Wind for the west coast of Greenland, the towns and Disko Bay, where the classic Silversea layout and the pool deck come into their own. Neither sails to the North Pole.

Svalbard’s 2025 rules limit ships in the protected areas to 200 passengers. Silver Endeavour carries up to 220, and we confirm with Silversea how each Svalbard departure is operated under the rule before you book.

Through Oslo for Longyearbyen, through Reykjavik for the Iceland and East Greenland voyages, and through Copenhagen or Reykjavik for Nuuk. We arrange the flights from Australia and a night before embarkation in each case.

For guests who want the ship to be part of the holiday, yes. The suites, the butlers and the restaurants make the sea days as good as the landing days, and the expedition team is as serious as any in the Arctic. Guests who want the smallest group ashore sometimes prefer Swan Hellenic or the Ponant sisters, and we say so.
